Bridget Jones's Diary -- Bridget Jones is a delightful misfit who gets in trouble almost every time she opens her mouth. In spite of parental and peer pressure to lose weight, stop smoking, drink less, find the right man and settle down, she discovers that she is "just perfect" being who she is. The journey is fun to watch and Rene portrays a Brit splendidly. Expect to laugh (perhaps at yourself) and be entertained. -- Nancy Heimstra

Requiem for a Dream -- Ellen Burstyn showcases her remarkable talent and courage in this gritty look at addiction. Her story is one of a woman searching for some meaning in her middle age life. The scene in which she is sitting in the doctors office hallucinating and literally losing her mind with the doctor in the background assuring her that everything is all right and to continue taking her pills is very powerful. This movie is not for the fainthearted! It's now available on video. -- Nancy Heimstra
